Paste a SQL query, get every major clause — SELECT, FROM, WHERE, JOIN, GROUP BY, ORDER BY — onto its own indented line. It doesn't change what the query does, only how it's laid out.
This is a keyword-based beautifier, not a full SQL parser: it's dialect-agnostic and safe across MySQL, Postgres, and SQLite, but it won't catch a query that's syntactically wrong for your actual database. Keywords are matched by word boundary, so a column named from_date or a table named deleted_users won't get split at FROM or DELETE.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this SQL formatter free to use?
- Yes. It runs entirely in your browser — no signup, no data sent to a server.
- Does it validate my SQL, or just format it?
- Formatting only. It lays out clauses (SELECT, FROM, WHERE, JOIN, etc.) onto their own indented lines, but it does not check dialect-specific syntax like Postgres ILIKE, MySQL backtick identifiers, or SQL Server TOP.
- Will it misfire on column names like from_date or deleted_users?
- No. Keywords are matched as whole words with word-boundary matching, not as substrings, so a column named from_date is never split at FROM and a table named deleted_users never triggers on DELETE.
- Is my SQL uploaded anywhere?
- No. Formatting happens locally in your browser tab — nothing is sent to a server.
